Salzburg and Vienna

This was our four day weekend during the 4th of July weekend. We took the night train from Metz to Munich and then hopped on a train from Munich to Salzburg. Salzburg was a nice town near the Swiss Alps; Mozart and Doppler were born in Salzburg. We spent the day walking around the town. For lunch we went to a good Austrian restaurant and had the local brew from Salzburg. I had goulash which was great and filling. The waiter put a basket of bread and pretels on our table; however due to stories we heard from other friends we asked if the bread was free and it wasn’t. The interesting part was that he only put bread on our table and not the tables of the locals. There is a nice castle in Salzburg, I didn’t go in since I had already been inside the one in Heidelburg, plus I wanted to go to the Mozart muesum instead. The muesum was worth while and I learned a lot about Mozart that I had not previously learned. I then caught the train from Salzburg to Vienna to meet back up with the group at our hostel in Vienna. Getting to the hostel was a little harder than I first expected, but I finally made it. The hostel was nice, we had a five person room which was great since we had five people. In addition, we also had our own shower and bathroom. The hostel was clean and everyone was nice. My first full day in Vienna I got up early to go to the Spanish riding school (defientaly worth it). Then I spent the rest of the day wondering around Vienna. There are many nice parks to explore. Oh and I saw the winter Palace of the Hogsburgs. While sitting in one of the parks I heard music and I thought there was a concert, thus I went to explore. I ended up running into the middle of the gay pride parade. That evening I went the film festivle for dinner, nice outdoor food. I had a rasberry mixed drink that was very refreshing. They were showing a ballet which I could only stand to watch for about 20 minutes, thus I headed back to the hostel. The next day I visited the summer palace of the Hofburgs and then toured the Gardens before meeting back up with everyone for dinner. The next day I explored more of Vienna when everyone else went to Munich.
