Barcelona

Friday
We arrived in Barcelona at around 12 pm Friday wherein we checked into our hotel. The hotel would only take cash, thus we were depleted of our cash. After checking into our hotel and showering we went to lunch at a nice Spanish restaurant. It was hard to figure out what was on the menu even though we had someone that spoke fluent Spanish. The menu was all in Catalan.
After lunch we went to the Casa Mila by Gaudi. I wasn't real excited about seeing it or going inside, but I went along and I really enjoyed it. It was fun being with other engineers, we definitely felt like nerds there. We spent a lot of time there and we had to get back to the hotel to meet up with Geoff who had to catch a different train. That night we went out on the town and watched the sunrise.
Saturday
We took a picnic to Parc Guell which was also by Gaudi. We spent most of the day there. After the park we walked down to the beach where we walked along the water. The water wasn't as warm as we thought it would be. We found an area that had ropes that we climbed up. I need to get the picture of it from the others. That night I got a whole pizza and a Spanish beer for 5.50 euros. We all ate our pizzas on a bench along the beach. It was a site seeing 6 Americans all with their own box of pizza. Saturday night was a shorter night since we were tired from the night before. We went to see a fountain show which was spectacular.
Sunday
We got up early to go to Montserrat. It was very beautiful up there. We saw all of the church related things and then we hiked up the mountain a ways. That evening we stayed to watch the choir boys perform which made us miss the last cable car back down the mountain. Thus, we had to take the train which was an extra 5.50 euros each, however the guy working there must have felt bad for us and allowed us to buy the child tickets for 2.75 euros.
Monday
Our last day in Barcelona. Most of us wanted to see La Sagrada Familia. That was spectacular. I want to come back once they finish it. Currently they are saying it should be done in 2030, but I doubt that will happen. We spent most of the day there. Afterwards we ate lunch and caught our train back to France. In France we had about an hour to explore the small town along the coast. Afterwards we caught our night train back to Paris.
